What really matters in life? How to experience more of it.

For any of you who have had a health scare, this article may completely resonate with you. And for those of you luckily enough not to, I hope this article gives you an opportunity to reflect on your personal circumstances and what really matters to you in life.

Recently I unfortunately went through a really stressful period where I had to go through some big medical tests to see if a lump I found was threatening. It actually was one of the most interesting and challenging weeks of my life; mainly because there was a huge battle between my fears, and all the personal development work I have done that offers a very different perspective and way of dealing with life.

This short but intensive period has left me feeling not only really depleted and tired but also with an experience that was filled with real emotional ups and downs and also huge life realisations. And, today I want to share some of them with you.

If this health scare had happened several years ago, before I had gone on my personal and spiritual development journey, I believe that this experience would not have empowered me but would have made left me feeling even more ill, crippled with fear, and emotionally paralysed in many ways for a long period of time.

However, instead, what it has done is not only shown me that I can handle stress and fear so much easier than I ever have, and at the same time been able to have some real up-levelling in the way I approach business and my life.

I really hope some of my deeply felt realisations may offer some food for thought for you too, and some inspiration of what really matters in life.

Over the course of finding this lump, waiting to see my GP, waiting to be seen at the cancer unit and now waiting for a biopsy result a million thoughts have gone through my head and death was a big part of it. I am very happy to say that the consultant said that it appears I am healthy and the biopsy is to check for any further growth. Of course this was a gigantic relief for me, but until that time and even as I write this, the realisations I am experiencing with regards to how I do life and business is deeply reflective.

You see, one of the biggest things that hit me hard, was that you really never know what is right around the corner-your life can instantly be changed in a fraction of a moment for better or worse, whether it be good or bad, and with this deep awareness comes some big changes in how you experience life and what really matters in life too.

Here are just 4 of mine:

  1. Live your life. And live it from you heart. Let your heart speak, talk and guide you. Really give yourself permission to do what your heart desires. Ask it, let it show you, and build the courage to follow it. You never know when your time is up, so spend the time you have doing things you love.

  2. Focus on what really matters to you. How do you want to live? What do you want your life to look like? What’s really important to you? What do you want, think, believe? Other peoples beliefs, thoughts, ideas, or what they think is not relevant to you. You go ahead and do you.

  3. Ask yourself if it were your last days, what would you regret not doing? I would never regret not earning enough money or building an empire. I would care about how much time I spent connecting to people I love, and enjoying this planet I live on. So how do you want to spend your time, and what do you want to do to deeply enjoy it?

  4. The true value of health. When you’re healthy you take it for granted. I have always looked after my body but you never know what may happen to it. The knowing of how important it is to invest time, energy, money or whatever you can into your physical and mental health was key for me. Appreciate it, love it, don’t take it for granted, give your body and mind the attention and love it deserves.

You might be saying, ‘Well Sirin these are not profound realisations’. But really they are. So in return I would ask you, ‘Are you truly following them, or do you just know these realisations to be true?”. You see, there is a big difference between knowing something, and actually deeply feeling it in a way that makes you implement what you know. And when you truly feel these realisations a deep shift occurs in the way you see and decide to experience life. We all know its great to follow your heart, but do you really truly do it?

So with these deeply emotional realisations (and a million more) it’s now about that decisions I make and the actions I now take to truly make them apart of my daily life

And for me that goes something like this:

  1. To embody self-love like I never have before. To be my own biggest fan and cheerleader, to love every part of my personality and body, to be kind, caring, compassionate, loving, patient and gentle with myself every single beautiful day. No comparison. No beating self up. No criticism. No perfectionism. Loving myself in the perfection that I already am.

  2. To deeply trust myself, trust my intuition, trust that I know what is right for me, what I want, that I can have it and trusting that I know what my next steps are.

  3. To grab life by the balls and just go for what I want. Want to live aboard again-do it. Want to sell my house-do it. Want to flip property-do it. Want to simply travel the world-do it. Just do what you want to do because you truly don’t know when your last moments on earth might be.

  4. To make more memories and moments than money. And for me that means experiencing joy, love and connection with people. For sure money can bring them memories but without the important people and without you feeling a deep sense of love and happy now money really does nothing and on your death bed you will never regret not making enough money. You will regret not enjoying the simple things in life.

  5. To stop stressing and to live in the moment more. To be deeply grateful for what I have to day, to enjoy each day and to build the life my heart truly wants not my ego or mind.

  6. That I am the creator of my everyday reality and the creator of my future and I get to decide how I do that. But at the same time to know there are some things outside of my control-Life. And for that reason, make decisions everyday based on love, based on my hearts desires, based on self trust and belief, based on living in the moment, based on gratitude for what I have now and excitement of the possibilities of the future. Creating deep self-nourishment and love and living in the moment today-realising the beauty of what I get to choose to experience every single day.

So-with that said I would ask you to consider what are you ready to let go of, and truly claim instead?

What truly matters to you in life and what steps can you take to create it?

What would you regret not having done if time was running out?

Tune into this and start taking the steps you need to make it happen, because we only get this chance of this particular life-time once, and when you believe the world is your oyster it really is.

I hope my share has give you some food for thought and some loving inspiration today xx and if you have had any deep awarenesses come through I would love to hear them.
